ACCESS4.EU

This web portal was a joint initiative of eleven ACCESS4.EU projects. It provided European researchers with information about Research, Technology Development and Innovation (RTDI) programmes around the world, which were - or still are - open to European participation.

2018 Update

The ACCESS4.EU projects were completed in 2013. This web portal will be discontinued at the end of 2018.

What was ACCESS4.EU?

The EU's Framework Programmes for Research and Innovation are generally open to participation from non-EU countries (sometimes also referred to as 'Third Countries'). In turn, the EU's agreements on scientific and technological cooperation with non-EU countries require these to open their national programmes to EU researchers. The ACCESS4.EU projects were intended to monintor, analyse and strengthen the implementation of this reciprocal opening.

All programmes at a glimpse - the RTDI Funding Database

This database is no longer available.

The information on funding opportunities included in the ACCESS4.EU programme database originally came from those 11 countries worldwide that were involved in an ACCESS4.EU project. The database informed EU reasearchers and innovators about natioal funding programmes in non-EU countries that were open to EU nationals.

In 2013 – as a joint effort of 18 BILAT projects funded under the EU's 7th Framework Programme for Research – the database was transferred to a new website called 'bilat.eu' to ensure its continuity.

The new enhanced RTDI Funding Database included an even wider range of funding opportunities than the original one, e.g. bilateral funding programmes. Some of the BILAT projects under FP7 added comprehensive programme information, while others didn't join in.

As funding programmes are constantly being modified and adapted, without any updates, the information in the database soon became obsolete and the related website 'bilat.eu' was shut down in 2018.

Common Access4.EU newsletter

While the Acces4.EU projects were still active  a common Access4.EU Newsletter provided a quick overview of opportunities for S&T cooperation in 11 Third Countries.

Some projects also produced country specific newsletters, which are archived under the respective country's project pages (see menu on the left).
